FAQ - Motorcycle Insurance
Is motorcycle insurance expensive?
No. in Kentucky you have the option of including or excluding the PIP (personal injury protection) coverage. The PIP coverage can be a bit pricey, so many riders exclude it and prefer to rely on their medical insurance in the event of an accident.
Can I add my motorcycle insurance to my policy?
No, a seperate policy is required, though you may be eligible for a discount for having both policies through the same provider. You can also save money by not riding the motorcycle during the winter months.
Are there any other discounts?
Some companies give discounts to riders who have completed motorcycle safety courses http://www.dcr.net/~ckriders/Kentucky%20Motorcycle%20Program%20Sites.htm.

I drive a motorcycle. Should I wear a helmet?
Insurance coverage is based on risk assessment. As a rider and an insurance professional, I'd personally never ride without my helmet. However, it's ultimately a personal decision. For more info, here's what the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety's website says: http://www.iihs.org/research/qanda/helmet_use.html
