Who is a Chartered Life Underwriter?
The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) is a professional financial advisor specializing in developing effective solutions for individuals, business owners and professionals in the areas of income replacement, risk management, estate planning, and wealth transfer. For more than 80 years, the CLU designation has been widely recognized as a mark of excellence in the industry.
The CLU educational program consists of three specialized courses that provide additional learning in life insurance applications, insurance law and taxation, and applied estate planning. The content of these courses builds upon the concepts found in the courses leading to the CFP™ designation.
Virtually every financial planning engagement involves a review of the client's risk management strategies. An advisor earns the CFP™ designation to substantiate his/her expertise as a financial planner. It makes sense for CFP™ professionals to earn the CLU designation to symbolize their expertise in life insurance and estate planning.
